April 7 , 2007. Grand Theft Auto 4 Screens are here!

The video is here. You can view it on youtube. But we at Xbox 360 Cheat decided to analyze the screenshots because you know, we are so good at analyzing stuff. Some of us even have degrees in analogology. That's a real word. We swear. And speaking of swearing, you play this Russian guy above in GTA4 with an accent as thick as Boris from Rocky and Bullwinkle. If you don't know what we're talking about, he sounds like the Russian guy that fought Rocky. He looks like the classic Russian bad guy too.

The game seems to take place in a city very similar to New York City. You can obviously make out the Empire State Building wannabe here. Notice the detail in the windows. Don't know if those actually light up at night. Also notice the clouds far above. Those aren't just the painted-on ones, but Oblivion clouds that look like they can ove on their own if you stare at them long enough.

This shot has some nice details. Notice the ticker. In the video, it actually scrolls. Once again, the clouds far above seem to have volume. And look how the buildings reflect off of each other. I guess all those idiots who said this is the same old GTA are wrong and, well, idiotic. Also see how high the building looks. From the view, we're guessing the main character is standing right beneath the entrance to this building.

Here's a bridge shot. This could be a Brooklyn Bridge clone. Notice the details on the steel cables and all the shadows. And in the far background, you can see another bridge. Also notice how the streets have much better textures. The concrete isn't all one texture, but seems to be made up of several textures.

Here's a picture of the skyline in what appears to be downtown which could mean Time Square in Manhattan. The draw distance is pretty good, although no match for real life. Once again the streets are amazingly textured. And the Rockstar billboards really add to the gaming experience. Also notice how one side of the street is darker than the other. That's because the sun is setting or rising from one direction just like in real life.

Here's a screen of the pedestrians. Rockstar has once again graced us with weird looking pedestrians. However, the pedestrian details aren't great. Perhaps we're too far to see their details. I wouldn't mind seeing the details of the girl in the blue dress. The sidewalk has the same mixed in texturing as the streets.

Last, here's a screen of what appears to be an amusement park similar to Coney Island. We finally get to see the detail in the car. It's just Xbox 360 detail though. You've seen this level of detail in Project Gotham Racing or any other racing game. What you should note here is the roller coaster which means GTA4 might have an entire amusement park of games and rides to play with! Yeah. This also means GTA4 will cover Brooklyn.

So there you have it. GTA4 will include at least Brooklyn including Coney Island, Manhattan, and New York City. There's an amusement park and the level of detail is far far superior to any GTA3 game so this game will be using a new game engine. You play a Russian and if you watch the trailer, this guy isn't any saint. Will we see Catalina, Claude, or CJ? Maybe even Tommy? Who knows. Anything is possible with Rockstar. One thing is for sure, it will be great.
