King Kong follows the movie exactly. You play as one of the guys that has to chase after King Kong to save the girl. And every once in awhile, you play as King Kong and have to save the girl from the other monsters on the island. It does break up the monotony of the FPS genre during these segments, even if King Kong doesn't have that many moves.
The game has some good action sequences for you to play in like the scene where you have to fight in the middle of rampaging dinosaurs. And they added a raft scene which is kinda like the vehicle rail shooter scenes in other FPS games. And the King Kong scenes have you beating those T-Rexes and break their jaws. So you get a good deal of gaming variety for your enjoyment. They do make you use spears a great deal of the time, but there's plenty of them lying around.
The 360 version of King Kong has great graphics. Much better than the other console versions. This is a port, but they really did a number of the graphics. The characters aren't that detailed, but they did a great job on the monsters which are well textured and gorgeous. The cutscenes are ingame instead of movie cutscenes like in other games. The sound is great and the music is straight from the movie.
We're going to knock this game down for not having an online mode. We know it's a movie franchise and those rarely have online modes, but it's also a FPS and it would have been fun to go dino hunting with your buddies. The gameplay length is also short at around ten hours. But it's a good ten hours of gameplay and definitely one of the best movie-to-game experiences we've ever had.
