You know, we love Vegas. We love gambling in Vegas. And we love getting drunk while gambling in Vegas thanks to free booze. But we've never thought about fighting terrorists in Vegas while drunk. But we do it here for you. At least with machine guns and rocket launchers flying around, it's easier to hit the jackpot at the slots. Vegas has a pretty standard story. Terrorists invade Las Vegas and you got to stop them before they use some weapon that can kill millions of people. Imagine that.
You lead a three-man team as Logan Keller, like Jack Bauer, except with less talking and more violence. You'll lead your team all over Vegas, ducking and covering, and firing shots everywhere. The gameplay style is very similar to Gears of War, except without the ugly aliens. There's a real easiness to controlling your team. You can give them orders where to stand, who to shoot, and when to fire without any problems. And your teammates respond with enough intelligence to follow your orders.
Graphicwise, Rainbow Six Vegas delivers. The details are as impressive as Gears. The casinos look great, but you'll end up fighting in alot of corridors, halls, and hideouts you've swear you've played in other games. Luckily Ubisoft made the levels complex so you can pull off different ways of taking out your enemies. There's plenty of special effects and at times, you'll feel like you're watching a movie instead of playing a game. Sound is also very good for a shooter, or maybe we just like the soundtrack more in this game.
This is a short game, but there is coop where you and your friends can replay the campaign together, although it basically becomes a contest to see who can kill the most terrorists. And there is also multiplayer for up to 16 players with all the different match styles you would expect from multiplayer.
We can easily say Rainbow Six Vegas is a solid game. Sure the campaign is short, but they make the level design complex enough so you can replay the game and use different strategies. And it's got the complete multiplayer and coop we like to see in shooters. Great graphics and very good sound. This game is the total 360 package.
